Shireen Shortt is a participatory media practitioner based in Dublin. Having studied film and broadcasting, then pursuing a career in that industry, she gravitated instead towards developing a more democratic media practice, prioritising self-representation. She began this work through practice-based doctoral study in the Centre for Transcultural Research and Media Practice in the DIT, locating her work in two youth services in Dublin's north-inner city. She has continued to work in this capacity, developing her practice in the youth work sector.
